Upgrade your septic system
How does this action
help our Lagoon?
Septic systems contribute approximately 20% of the algae-feeding nitrogen entering the Indian River Lagoon. Nearly all septic systems contribute to water pollution, however septic systems that are closest to the water, are overused or improperly maintained, have unsuitable drainfield conditions, or are located in sandy soils or over high-water tables contribute the most.
Advanced septic systems provide more sewage treatment than a conventional septic system. Through the use of filters, baffles, multiple chambers, special media, aerators and/or the recirculation of wastewater through multiple chambers in the septic tank, advanced systems can cut your nitrogen load in half compared to conventional septic systems—meaning cleaner groundwater flowing to the lagoon.
Preempt unexpected backups, costly repairs, and help the lagoon! Find a state-licensed septic professional and ask for an advanced septic system.
Upload the install receipt for proof of your advanced septic system upgrade.
